FIRST SCOUT PROMISE.
EMPHASIS BY DEPUTY CHIEF. (United Press Association—Copyright.) (Received This Day, 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, November 24. The Deputy-Chief Scout of the Boys Scouts’ Association (Baron ’Somers) has circulated a notice reaffirming the first Scout promise: “T promise on my honour to do niv best to do my duty to God,” emphasising that a Scout cannot belong to any organisation denying the existence of God.
An official said that the message is regarded as necessary in the present troubled state of the world and the growth of the anti-God movement. He explained that no specific incident had prompted the statement.
