POULTRY SHOW.
THE SOUTH ISLAND CONFERENCE (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, November 24. The thirty-ninth annual meeting oi the South Island (New Zealand) Poultry, Pigeon, and Canary Association began this evening. The president (Mr G. H. Bradford) presided. The report stated that 28 societies were affiliated with the association, which was four more than in 1937. Shows' during the year, right through the South Island, were up considerably in entries. A very encouraging feature was that the public had supported the fixtures better than for some years, and the association could, with confidence, predict a’ good show season for 1939. The number of South Island championships allotted to 1938 shows was 108,'and in 16 there were no entries or no award made. On account of the AVaiau and Westport shows not being held, eight championships were cancelled, which was unfortunate. Out of the balance of 84 the number oi championship certificates won was 79, a very high percentage. The balance-sheet showed that receipts during the year totalled £275 6s 6d, and expenditure £72 18s lOd, leaving a credit balance of £202 7s Bd.
Mr Bradford was re-elected president.
