TERM EXTENDED.
MAN GUILTY OF THEFT. SEQUEL TO A SERIES. Charged with stealing a suitcase and clothing, the total value oi which was £4 ss, the property of John Campbell Blackburn, and an attache ease valued at £1 2s, the property of Grace Mary Letliam, John Arthur Crawford a cook, of no fixed abode, appeared in the Magistrate’s Court this morning before Messrs R. Kerr and A. H. Fcnn, Justices of the Peace. Accused, pleaded guilty to both charges. Sergeant J. F. Cleary said the thefts had occurred in Baring Square on November ‘2, the goods having been stolen from motor-cars parked there. He explained that three similar charges had been preferred against accused last Wednesday, when he was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment on each charge, the sentences to ho cumulative. Accused suffered; an injury to the head, and when he had taken drink his memory becamb defective, continued the Sergeant. "When hi' had admitted the previous thefts lie had forgoten about these. He had tried to help the police as much as possible.
Accused was sentenced to a further month’s imprisonment on the first charge and convicted and discharged on the second.
