THE COUNTY COUNCIL’S PLANT. CONDITIONS FOR USE APPROVED. Having considered thd question of the usd of the Counv Council’s plant in fighting fires on private property, a committee comprising Messrs J. Bland, H. J. Crothers, and J. Lowery recommended, at the meeting of the Council yesterday, that the following charges be paid:—Cost of transport at 6d per mile both ways; cost of wages of firemen ; a minimum charge of £3 for the use of the engine and hose, if operated, plus 20s per hour or part of an hour while the engine is in •operation. The Tinwald! Town Board was prepared to avail itself of the’Council’s plant- to fight fires in Tinwald, and would pay a retaining fee of £5 per annum, plus £5 per fire attended. The Allenton Fire Brigade was prepared to undertake the responsibility of attending to any outbreaks of fire in Tinwald.

If the Council consented to the service, it should be on condition that the Town Board prepared and maintained any necessary sumps, erect the necessary indicators to the satisfaction ol the Allenton Fire Brigade, and that the charges for the service be paid into the Fire Brigade funds for renewal and maintenance of equipment, concluded the report.
