ARTICLES IN THE “GUARDIAN.”

“The Aveekly articles which are appearing in the Ashburton ‘Guardian,’ on the A r arious local body activities undertaken in this County in the past are creating a great deal of interest in the community. Many interesting phases of the past are being brought back to tine memory of the, older generation and under the notice of the younger people,” said the County chairman (Mr H. J. Cirothers) in his statement to the County Council this morning. “The extraction of the data from the records and the Avriting up in a connected and interesting form, is a work of great importance and magnitude, and I feel that Mr John Brown, Avho is so keenly undertaking the work, is entitled to our congratulations and tha’nks for Ins valuable Avork. “The articles are not only interesting to the present generation, but will form a most valuable record of the Council’s undertakings for futuro record. The Ashburton ‘Guardian’ also deserves our thanks for the space given to the publication of the articles.”

Mr W. G. Gallagher said that the articles created a great deal of interest, and that Air BroAvn was to be commended on the excellent work he had done. The articles provided a fine history of the County, he added.

Other members expressed appreciation of the Avork, and on the motion of Air Gallagher, seconded by Air J. Bland, it Avas decided to send a letter of congratulation to Air BroAvn.
