THE WAITAKI SEAT.
MAGISTERIAL RECOUNT, MR KIDD’S MAJORITY INCREASED. (Per Press Association.) AVAIAIATE, No vein hep 2. Mr D. C. Kidd, the Nationalist candidate tor the AVaitaki electorate, incifeased his majority over the sitting member, Mr ID 1 . Barnes (Labour) from 10 votes to 14 as a result of the Magisterial recount of votes which concluded at 2.45 p.m. to-day. It is believed that the difference between the two candidates’ totals is the smallest majority by which the AA’aitaki seat has ever been won. Detailed figui'es of the magisterial count, with the,official totals in parenthesis, aire: 1). Barnes (Labour) .. 4613 (4659) D. C ! . Kidd (National) . 4657 (4668) Majority for Kidd . 14 (10) Informal .. 69 (42) Tlxe recoxxnt (which was made on the application, of Mr Barnes) commenced in the presence of the Magistrate, Mr H. Morgan, S.M., at 2 p.m. on Tuesday. The informal votes were increased by 28 under the Magisterial recount. Mr Barnes’ total was reduced by' 15 and Air Kidd’s by 11, 'which accounts for the inerlease in the informal votes.
