CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS. MATCHES IN ASHBURTON. The finals of the Ashburton Golf Club’s championships were played under ideal conditions on Saturday when the course was in splendid order. Results:— Men’s Senior—C. J. Bonnington beat W. F. Apderson, 7 up and 6 to play. Men’s Intermediate — R. G. Rqss beat D. A. Caughley, 3 up and 2 to play. Men’s Junior —J. Allen beat J. Connor, 14 up and 12 to play. Women’s Senior—Miss B. Morrow beat Mrs J. M. Mcßae, 9 up and 8 to play. Women’s Intermediate —Miss Z. Bonniiigton boat Miss L. Gilchrist, 5 up and 4 to play. Women’s Junior —Miss B. Murdoch beat Mrs S. H. Truman, 10 up and 8 to play. Rather unsteady golf was played by the finalists of the men’s senior championship over the first nine holes, but play improved considerably in the succeeding rounds. Up to the first two holes, the strokes were even, and Bonnington gradually went ahead and was two up at the ninth, jle improved^his position to six up over Anderson at the end of the aborning rounds, having completed the second round in 36 strokes, which is one over par for the course. The 19th hole went to Anderson who held his own to the 27th. The players halved the 28th and Bonnington took the next two in par figures to win the match. v

At the end of the morning rounds, Caughloy wa9 three up on Ross in the men’s intermediate championship. Ross squared the game at the 27th hole and won the 28th, then halved every hole up to the 32nd, which he took in three 'strokes, making him two up. He halved the 33rd and won the 34th in four, being three over bogey on the last nine holes. Ross did the last 18 holes in 80 strokes.
