THE WEATHER.
LITTLE SUNSHINE TO-DAY. Overcast conditions again prevailed in Ashburton to-day, and little was seen of the sun. The weather was, comparatively mild, however, a light’ wind coming from the north. A few showers of drizzling rain fell in Ashburton yesterday and last night, and 12 points wefre recorded at 9 a.m. this morning. The minimum temperature yesterday was 63.1 degrees and the minimum last night 47.5 degrees. The barometer showed a reading oi 29.53 inches this morning. TO-DAY’S FORECAST. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather : A moderate anti-cvclone is passing by to the north, but a shallow westerly depression is beginning to cross the South Island. Pressure has risen again over the south-west Tasman Sea. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows:
Moderate northerly winds on coast and north-westerlies inland, but a change to strong southerlies to-night. Weather fair at first, but rain probable with southerly change. Temperatures cool. Seas moderate hut rising to-morrow.
