16 YEARS AT ASHBURTON FORKS PRESENTATION TO MISS MOFFETT On tlije eve of her marriage, Miss H. T. Moffitt. who has resigned from the Education (Department after having been in charge of the Ashburton Forks School for 16 years, was met last evening by residents of the Ashburton Forks district and former pupils of the school The function, which was very largely attended, was held in the Greenstreet Hall and was a tribute to the popularity of Miss Moffitt. Mr F. G. Evans (chairman of the School Committee) referred to the .i> gret they felt at losing Miss Moffitt, but added that the whole district joined in expressing good wishes to the guest in her future life. On behalf of residents, Mr Evans handed over a silver tea service and a wallet. He spoke highly of Miss Moffitt’s work at the school and the interest she had :aken in the affairs of the district.
Similar sentiments 'were expressed by Messrs T. Green and F. G. Evans, jnr.
At a danoe which followed, Mr F. G. Evans, jnr., was M.C., and novelty dances were won by Mrs F. G. Evans, jinr., and Mr E. Stayt, Miss Peggy Arnst and Mr J. Oonnellv.
At a kitchen evening on Wednesday, women residents and pupils of the school presented a. large number of gifts to Miss Moffitt.
