OVERCAST CONDITIONS CONTINUE. Dull weather prevailed again in Ashburton to-day and there were occasional showers of drizzling rain. Conditions were miserable yesterday, the maximum temperature being 59.5 degrees. The minimum last night was 48.6 degrees. The barometer .stood at 29.38 inches this morning. TO-DAY’S FORECAST. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather:— The depression reported yesterday has passed eastward and an anticyclone is advancing across the north Tasman Sea. A shallow secondary depression was located this morning, however, over the Cook Strait area.

The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: Moderate to fresh south-westerly winds, becoming variable to-morrow. Weather cloudy to overcast with mist or drizzling rain at times, but improving. Temperatures cool Seas moderate.
