THE WEATHER.
OVERCAST AGAIN TO-DAY. i Overcast, threatening conditions prevailed in. Ashburton this morning, but later on the weather made signs of clearing. The light wind was from the north-east. Dull weather was experienced most of yesterday, although the sun shone 'Occasionally in th|b afternoon, when the maximum temperature was 59.5 degrees. The minimum reading of the thermometer last night was 48.6 degrees.
The barometer read 29.38 inches this morning.
TO-DAY’S FORECAST. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather:— A depression is crossing the Dominion. Tine lowest pressures are in the south, but the depression has a marked north-west extension. Barometers have risen over Eastern Australia. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: Light to moderate north-easterly to northerly winds, backing la tier to westerly or south-westerly. Weather cloudy to overcast with some rain probable. Temperatures ini Id, but cooler to-morrow. Seas slight to moderate, but rising north of Kaikoura.
