INDIAN TEAM’S VISIT

ARRANGEMENTS IN HAND

Arrangements are now well in hand h)r the visit of the Nawab of Mandavar’s hockey team to Ashburton. The visitors will be met at the railway station by officials of the Ashburton Men’s Hockey Sub-Association next Monday morning, when they will arrive from the north. They will then be motored to the Somerset Hotel, where they will he given a. civic welcome by the Mayor (Dr. C. 1. Miller), After morning tea with officials, the team will be free to see the town. If sufficient cars are available the team will be taken in the afternoon to Methven, where members will be entertained by the Methven Women’s Hockey Chib. It is hoped to arrange for members of the team to give a display of stick work at Methven. a picture party will be held on Monday evening if the visiting team does not wish to have a free evening. ■ The team will visit the Ashburton High and Technical High Schools on Tuesday morning to give demonstrations. The team will also visit the primary schools. The international match will be played on the Domain Oval, on Tuesday afternoon at 2.30, after which the visitors will be entertained at an official dinner. A dance will be held in the evening. The Indian players will leave Ashburton for the south on Wednesday morning. ASHBURTON WOMEN’S ASSOCIATION. DRAW FOR SATURDAY. The following matches have been arranged for the competitions of the Ashburton Women’s Hockey Association on Saturday: Section A—Hinds v. Walcanui, at

Hinds; Lowell ffe v. Moth von, at Ashburton. .Section B—Tinwald v. Rakaia, at Ashburton, at 1.45 p.m., Mr K. G. Fowke; Hinds v. Methven, at Metliven, the Rev. L. G. Hanna. Section C—Wakanui v. Methven, at Ashburton, Mr Fowke ; Rakaia., a bye. ASHBURTON MEN’S ASSOCIATION. There will be no men’s hockey competition matches next Saturday, but the senior representative team will practice at 2.30 p.m. with any other senior players who are available.
