RECORD MEETING

THE TINWALD ANGLICANS. ACTIVITIES DURING THE YEAR. ENCOURAGING REPORTS MADE. The annual meeting of parishioners of the Tinwald Parish, held in the Parish Hall, produced a record attendance of over 65 from all parts of the parish. The balance-sheet showed a credit of £9 14s Id, and the result was considered very satisfactory.

Encouraging reports were submitted by the Tinwald Ladies’ Guild, the Waterton Ladies’ Guild, the Sunday schools, Mothers’ Union, Girls’ Friendly Society, the Girls’ Bible-class and the Tinwald choir.

The jubilee funds will he considerably increased by the efforts of many of these organisations, while the Sunday schools are contributing largely to foreign missions.

The Vicar (Mr H. A. Childs) reported upon the year’s activities, which included the opening of two new Sunday schools, with an average of nearly 40 pupils, the re-formation of the Girls’ Friendly Society, which had already made a splendid contribution to the spiritual and social life of the church, ■and the establishment of ja, parish paper.

Mr J. H. Grigg was appointed vicar’s warden.

Office-bearers were elected as follows : —'People’s warden, Air R. Hulme; vestry, Southern Tinwald, Messrs Hawkins, Aloffatt, Griffiths, Pearce, Blee, Dolman, Parsons, and Sir William Nosworthy; Northern Tinwald, Alessrs J. Clark, It. Alillichamp, Dyer, Horrcll, Bell, It. Gudsell, Watson and ATcLachlan. Air P. C. Dyer was subsequently elected secretary and treasurer. All* J, H. Grigg moved that the meeting show its appreciation of the splendid work of the Vicar and Airs Childs, especially in connection with the young people, and in the printing and arranging of the Parish Paper. A motion of sympathy with Air G. Tl. Scales in his illness was the Vicar paying tribute to the long record of willing service rendered by both Air and Airs. Scales. All* H. P. Cooke congratulated the various church bodies on their satisfactory financial positions, especially the Ladies’ Guild for their ready help in times of financial stress. He also praised the Sunday School teachers for their good work during the year. The receipts from the recent bazaar it was reported would exceed. £l3O.

All* J. Clark moved a vote of thanks to the retiring secretary and treasurer, All* H: P. Cooke, for his careful management of church finances during his three and a half years of office.

A bountiful supper, provided by the ladies, brought a very pleasant meeting to a close.
