INCOME REDUCED.
WINTON DISTRICT DAIRYING. WEATHER. AFFECTS OUTPUT. (Per Press Association.* INVERCARGILL, May 20. A reduction of more than £IO,OOO in tho total income of the six dairy factories in the Winton district is estimated for this season compared with last. This has been caused by a. big reduction in tho output as a result of the abnormally dry weather in Southland. Tho Boggy Burn, Browns and Hokonu.ii factories have already ended the season with an aggregate decrease of 91 tons of cheese compared with the output for tho previous season. The three factories still manufacturing— Awarua, Lochiol and Northope show an aggregate decrease so far of 191 tons.
The total number of suppliers to those factories is 14 fewer than it was last year, but this is considered to he only a small factor m the decreased output. The total decrease to yesterday -of 195 tons for the six factories represents, on the average district yield and the average advance payment, a decrease of about £10,187 in the total income of the suppliers of those factories.
