103rd BIRTHDAY.
LADY RESIDENT IN NELSON. SEVENTY YEARS IN DOMINION. (Per Press Association.) NELSON, This Day. Mrs T. A. Bromell, of Seymour 'Avenue, will celebrate her 103rd birthday to-morrow. Born at Clifton, Bristol, in 1835, Mrs Bromell, (formerly Miss Mary Ann Hacker) was married there and in 1867 went to Melbourne in the ship Lincolnshire. Mr and Mrs Bromell later crossed the Tasman in the steamer Alambra (one of the two steamers which maintained the mail service between Australia and New Zealand), landing at Nelson in January, 1868. After several years at Havelock they transferred to a farm property in Tadmor in 1876, living in Nelson for the last 25 years.
