A frightened (police horse charged across the road in front of their Majesties’ car during their visit to Bolton on their Lancashire tour. The chauffeur swerved to the off side and just escaped a collision. The .Queen leaned back startled as the horse dashed past. The incident was over in a few seconds and the party drove on calmly.

In the afternoon ' their Majesties visited Rochdale, Oldham and Ash-ton-under-Lyne. - Great crowds gathered to cheer their Majesties, who were obviously impressed by the warmth of their welcome.
