SCHOOL ’BUSES.
TRANSPORT FROM HINDS. PROPOSAL FALLS THROUGH. Advice to the effect that the proposal to take secondary school pupils in Hinds to Ashburton by bus had been abandoned has been received by the Principal of the Ashburton' Technical High School (Mr W. Crawford). Because of time Tost by 25 children from that district through the unsuitability of the train timetable, it Avas suggested that the motor-bus Avhich conveys the children from the Public Works camp on the Hinds-Rangitata road to the Hinds School be utilised for transporting secondary school children to Ashburton, hut some parents of secondary school children objected to the additional payment required, Avhile parents of primary school children on the Hinds-Rangitata road did not approve of the proposal, as their children would be unduly delayed in returning home from Hinds.
