MR CHAMBERLAIN’S PLAN.
CONFERENCE TO BE CALLED.
PERIOD OF TWENTY YEARS. (United Press Association-Copyright.) (Received This Day, 11 a.m.) LONDON, January 23. The Prime Minister (Mr Neville Chamberlain) proposes to call a conference of Italy, Germany, France, Belgium, and Britain in June to guarantee 20 years peace on the following basis: Drastic reform of the League. No increase in armaments after completion of the present programmes. A pact of non-aggression. Withdrawal from the Versailles Treaty of all the clauses to which Germany objects, except those concerning colonies. A special committee to consider the German demand for colonies. An economic truce on the lines of M. van Zeeland’s report on the world economic situation.
