THE HEALTH CAMP.

ALL CHILDREN “IN THE PINK.” TO RETURN NEXT SATURDAY. “All the children are in the pink of condition and there have not been any cases of sickness since the two minor cases at the beginning of the camp,” said Mr E. C. Bathurst (chairman oi the Ashburton Health Camp Committee) in conversation with a “Guardian” reporter this morning. The camp, which is being held at the Staveley Hall, accommodates 25 children, most of whom are girls, and it opened on January 5. Very complete arrangements were made for the comfort and well-being of the children and the. holiday has been a most enjoyable one for the campers. Increases in weight have been registered by all the children, who have enjoyed excellent weather for the mest part, yesterday being spent indoors because of the rain, though it was the first day for two weeks that they had not been able to get outside. Walks, bathing and organised games have filled in the days. Two rest periods of an hour each are observed every day and the treatment has been very beneficial all round. ' The Medical Officer for Health for Canterbury (Dr. T. Fletcher Telford) paid a visit to the camp a few days ago and was very well pleased with all he saw.

A concert organised by the Staveley Women’s Institute, of which Mrs Norman is president, was given for the children on Saturday evening. The camp will be closed next Saturday afternoon and the children will be returned to Ashburton in motor-cars provided by members of the Ashburton Rotary Club, who took the campers to Staveley. The cars will make a rendezvous at Baring Square East, and are expected there at 4 o’clock.
