TENDER ACCEPTED
THE NEW ZEALAND PAVILION.
AT THE EMPIRE EXHIBITION. MR W. J. JORDAN IN CHARGE. (United Press Association—Copyright.) (Received This Day, 1.30 p.m.) LONDON, January 21. The High Commissioner for New Zealand (Mr W. J. Jordan) has accepted the tender of Messrs Spiers and Company, Glasgow, for the New Zealand pavilion at the Empire Exhibition. The price was well under the estimates. The pavilion will be ready for occupation on March 31. It will be a large building of modern design by Mr R. N. Vanes, formerly of Dunedin, of the Williams Company, London, architects. Mr Harold Williams, the principal, was formerly ol Hawke’s Bay.
There will be a space of 7COO square feet, mostly reserved for the Government and the produce boards, which are closely collaborating with Mr Jordan. A feature of the pavilion will be a series of 14 paintings, seven on one side of the building depicting the history of New Zealand .from the‘landing of the Maoris, and the seven others portraying New Zealand s link with Scotland from the founding of Otago. Mr Jordan will directly control the exhibition, Mr H. T. B. Drew, has been appointed supervisor, and Air J. H. Hall, formerly editor of the “Dominion'" will have charge of the pavilion after the < opening.
