SIGNIFICANT CHANGE.
CONTROL OF BRITISH ARMY.
(United Press Association—Copyright.) (Received This Day, 9.5 a.m.) LONDON, January 20.
The Army List for January contains for the first time in the last 128 years a significant addition, the inclusion of the name of Major-General Sir John Brown, who was appointed deputy-director general, of the territorial army in November, with local rank of Major-General. The War Office announces that his promotion to the substantive rank of Major-General, with the consequent creation of a hew section in the Army List, is in pursuance of the policy that, the highest ranks of the army shall be open to all officers, regular and territorial alike.— British Official Wireless.
