THE MAYORALTY.
LABOUR CANDIDATE NOT LIKELY THE QUESTION NOT CONSIDERED. Asked by a “Guardian” reporter today if there was likely to be a Labour candidate for the Mayoralty at the election next May, a prominent official in Labour circles in Ashburton stated that there was no likelihood of Labour representation at the poll. “We have not even considered the question,” he said. “The Labour Represnetation Committee left it to the branches to decide, but we do not think it is at all likely that anything will be done in Ashburton.”
