DENIAL OF DEBT.
ITALY AND THE SOVIET. RUSSIA AND ALLEGED DEBTOR. (United Press Association—Copyright.) (Received This Day, 10.55 a.m.) ROME, January 20. Replying to Russia’s decision to suspend payments to Italian firms and organisations dealing commercially with the Soviet, the Foreign Office denied that Italy is indebted to Russia. On the contrary, Russia owes Italy several million lire due on the current supply of oil by-products. Russia’s decision is an expedient under which she admits insolvency to Italy.
