HEAVY COMPENSATION
FOOT-AND-MOUTH DISEASE

The London Gazette states that it is estimated that £43,174 will he payable as compensation for 4707 animals slaughtered because of foot-and-mouth disease during the first fortnight in January. It is reported that the disease, with one exception, had come from the Continent.
