NEW PREMISES.
UNION BANK OF AUSTRALIA. THE INITIAL STEP TAKEN. The initial step toward the erection of neAA’ premises for the Union Bank or Australia was taken this week. This was the start of the neAV residence for the manager in Havelock Street West. Quite a large number of men are at work on the house, and it is expected that the Avorlr will be pushed through as soon as possible to enable an early start to bo made on the actual bank building. When the manager’s residence is finished the next step will be the removal of the present bank to the back of the section at the corner of East and Tancred. Streets. This 'will enable business to be carried on Avhile the neAV structure goes up at the corner.
