SPORTS CARNIVAL

THE METHVEN PIPE BAND. SEVERAL VISITING BANDS. FINE DISPLAY GIVEN. With the object of raising funds to purchase Highland dress for members the Methven Pipe Band held a sports carnival and pipe bands’ display at the Methven Showgrounds on Saturday in brilliantly fine weather. There was a large attendance and the effort was a very successful one. The visiting bands were Scottish Society’s Pipe Band (Christchurch), City of Christchurch. Pipe Band, and the Ashburton County Pipe Band, while the Methven Pipe Band was present in full strength. The hands assembled in the square and marched to the grounds, led by the local band.
