THE WEATHER.
CONDITIONS CONTINUE WARM. The weather was again fine and warm in Ashburton this morning, with a strong sun and a cloudless sky. There was a slight north-west wind. The maximum temperature yesterday was 72.3 degrees, and the inside minimum last night 39.2 degrees. The barometer at 9 o’clock this morning had risen to 29.99 inches, compared with 29.77 inches yesterday morning. TO-DAY’S FORECAST. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather: — General inference: An anticyclone now covers the New Zealand area with its centre west of the North Island. A moderate depression is located tover the south-west Tasman Sea. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: Light variable winds, but north-eas-terlies prevailing and later freshening. Weather fine and becoming warmer, but cool night temperatures. Seas slight to moderate.
