COALMINERS’ STRIKE.
A DISPUTE IN TARANAKI. (Per Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, November 25. Fifty miners employed in the Egmont Collieries coal mine at Tatu, in the Ohura district, have struck. It is understood that the trouble arose through the dismissal of one miner and the manager’s refusal to reinstate him.
Union officials are understood to be negotiating with the company; but no indication of a settlement has yet been forthcoming.
The mine has been producing about 100 tons of coal a day.
