fine and warm conditions. The weather was fine and warm in Ashburton this morning, though there was a tendency to- cloudiness. A light wind blew from the north-east. The maximum temperature was 64.3 degrees, and the inside minimum last night 40.6 degrees. The barometer this morning registered a slight rise, standing at 29.77 inches, compared with 29.45 inches yesterday morning. TO-DAY’S FORECAST. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather:— Prsesure is still rather low in the east of the Dominion but is rising everywhere with" the approach of an anticyclone across the Tasman Sea. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Uamaru is as follows :
Moderate to strong but decreasing southerly winds. A few isolated showers but weather mainly fair to fine, cold night with some frosts, but becoming milder to-morrow. Seas rather rough but decreasing.
