EMPIRE MIGRATION.
ADVOCACY OF RESUMPTION. MR CHAMBERLAIN SYMPATHETIC (United Press Association—Copyright.) LONDON, November 24. The correspondent of the Australian Associated Press states that, replying sympathetically to the deputation from the migration conference which submitted to him resolutions favouring a resumption of Empire migration, the Prime Minister (Mr Neville Chamberlain) promised to consult the Secretary of State for the Dominions (Mr Malcolm MacDonald) immediately, after which he would communicate with the deputation. Mr Chamberlain said that nothing could be achieved without active cooperation by the Dominions, which so far, for reasons they regarded as good and sufficient, and which he did not question, had been disinclined to cooperate ; but the matter was so important that he was convinced that a further effort was desirable, in conjunction with the Dominions, to see whether something could not be done.
