Having broken all records as leaders of the Commonwealth Government and having filled more portfolios than any other man, the Australian Prime Minister (Mr J. A. Lyons) colloquially known as “Honest Joe,” revealed yesterday that in his temporary role as Minister for Defence he wrote & letter to himself as Prime Minister in_ which he made certain recommendations and, threatened. serious consequences if the Prime Minister rejected them. Mr Lyons will be in a position to announce his new Ministry in a few days. Sir Arclidale Parkhill, who was defeated in the recent Federal poll, tendered his resignation as Minister for Defence at the week-end. Mr W. M. Hughes is freely mentioned as his successor.
