The Lord and Lady Mayoress of London held a reception for Miss Jean Batten this afternoon. Mrs Jordan (wife of the High Commissioner for New Zealand) was present. WARM PRAISE IN LONDON.
(Received This Day, 9.5 a.m.) LONDON, November 24. “Our Modern Brunliilde” was the epithet Lord Londonderry applied to Jean Batten at the annual banquet of the City Livery Club at which Miss Batten was the guest. He added: “Her splendid achievements have been indelibly and eternally written on all the records of aviation.”
