THE WEATHER.
CONDITIONS FINE AND WARM. The sun again shone brightly in Ashburton this morning, with a less sky. A. very light wind blew from the north-east. In the afternoon the wind was from the south, and the sky had clouded over in the greater part. The maximum temperature 3resterday was 62 degrees, and the inside minimum last night 49.7 degrees. Tbe barometer at 9 o ’clock this morning had fallen to 29.58 inches, compared with 29.84 inches yesterday morning. TO-DAY’S FORECAST. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather:— General inference: The northern cyclone has deepened, somewhat and is now centred just ncrth-wCst of Cape Maria Van Diemen. A depression also covers the southern portion of the South Island. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: Moderate but freshening northerly’ winds changing later to southerlies. Weather cloudy to overcast with much mist and fog and rain developing in most places. Temperatures colder tomorrow. Seas slight to moderate, but later rising.
