THE WEATHER.
DULL, OVERCAST CONDITIONS. The warm sun which, shone in Ashburton yesterday was not in evidence this morning, when the sky was grey and overcast. * There was a light north-east vyind. The maximum temperature yesterday was 70.1 degrees, and the inside minimum last night 40 degrees. The barometer at 9 o’clock had risen from 29.50 inches yesterday morning to 29.84 inches. TO-DAY’S FORECAST. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. . The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather: — General inference: The depression experienced yesterday has passed away eastwards, and an anti-cyclone covers the south-west Tasman Sea. The cyclonic depression in the North Tasman has deepened and become more extensive. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: Light to moderate north-easterly winds, veering later to southerlies and freshening. Weather cloudy to overcast, scattered showers or misty rain. Seas slight to moderate.
