ASHBURTON COMPETITIONS. OPENING GAAIES PLAYED. The opening match of the competitions of the Alid-Canterbury Lawn Tennis Sub-Association were played on Saturday in good weather. There are three teams taking part in the senior grade and seven in the junior. In the senior grade Te Alarae had a narrow win over Allenton, at Allenton, the home team losing on sets but securing more games. The junior grade saw another close match between Ashburton A and Alethven.
