CONDITIONS FINE AND WARM Bright sunshine prevailed over the week-end in Ashburton, and continued to-day, when the sky was cloudless, and a moderate breeze blew from the south-west. The maximum temperature yesterday was 69.9 degrees, and the maximum on Saturday 69.2 degrees. The inside minimum last night was 51.8 degrees, and on Saturday night 41.8 degrees. The barometer at 9 o’clock this morning showed, a slight drop, pressure having fallen from 29.79 inches yesterday morning to 29.50 inches. TO-DAY’S FORECAST. . % (Per Press Association.) The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather: — General inference: A westerly depression of considerable intensity is crossing the Dominion and a slight secondary is likely to follow it. Pressure has risen over south-eastern Australia. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows■ Moderate to strong westerly to southwesterly winds, reaching gale force in places and later becoming more' southerly. Weather unsettled with intermittent rain; temperatures becoming cooler. Seas moderate, but later rising.
