Mr H. D. Gunn (president of the Ashburton Grain, Seeds and Produce Merchants’ Association) and Mr A. A. McDonald left this afternoon for Hastings, to attend the annual conference of the New Zealand Feder iti m.
Mr W. C. Brydon, manager o'f the Christchurch Branch of the National Mortgage and Agency Co., and, Mr F. V. (Piper, of Gore, the newly-appointed manager of the Ashburton Branch, were visitors to Ashburton to-day.
Mr R. M. Stewart, accountant at the Timaru branch of the Union Bank of Australia, will arrive to-morrow to take over the managership of the Ashburton branch in succession to Mr N. F. Pattle, who will retire at the end of this month
Mr F. L. Smith left this afternoon for Hastings to attend the annual conference of the New Zealand Grain, Seeds and Produce Merchants’ Federation, of which he is vice-president. The conference will start to-morrow and continue till Friday.
Mr D. J. Gibson, who has been service officer of the Automobile Association, Canterbury, in the Ashburton district for the last 18 months, will leave at the end of the month to take up the position of service officer for the association in the Westland district.
Mr F. V. Piper, manager of the Gore branch of the National Mortgage and Agency Company of New Zealand, Ltd., has been appointed manager of the Ashburton branch of the company and will take up his duties within the next few days. Before going to Gore, Mr Piper was for a number of years manager of the company’s Oamaru branch.
