WOMEN’S INSTITUTE.

THE WORK AT TBNWALD. The monthly meeting of the Tinwald Women’s Institute was held in the Parish Hall on Thursday afternoon, Mrs W. Lundy presiding over a very good attendance. . The meeting took the form of a musical afternoon, and there were visitors from the Ashburton, Wjllowby-Eiffel-ton, and Fairton Institutes. One new member was elected. The roll call was sandwich fillings, which brought forward some very good receipts. Musical items were as follow-; —Pianoforte solo, Miss P. Clark; story without words, Peggy Robertson; violin solos, Miss.M. Walsh; songs, Miss B. Millichamp; elocution, Miss W. Andrew and Ngaire Clelland; tap dance, Peggy Aldridge; tap duo, Norma Laffey and Ilona Hay. Competitions resulted as follow: Decorated coat hangers, Miss N. Houston 1, Mrs J. O’Shea and Mrs K. Wilson (equal) 2, Mrs H. Houston and Mrs W. Lundy (equal) 3; floating bowl of flowers, Miss N. Houston and Mrs H. Houston (equal) 1, Mrs J. O’Shea 2, Mrs H. Christie and Mrs K. Wilson (equal) 3; chocolate cake, Mrs H. Christie 1, Mrs C. Bell 2, Mrs J. O’Shea 3; best bloom, Mrs R. Bennison 1, Miss F. Gudsell 2, Mrs H. Brown 3. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded those who contributed items. Hostesses for the afternoon tea were Mrs Broomfield and the Women’s Institute committee.
