IMPORT OF WHEAT

THE POSSIBILITY DISCUSSED.

SOUTH AUSTRALIAN PRODUCT

HOPE OF ATTRACTIVE PRICE

(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The possibility of the New Zealand Government buying South Australian wheat was discussed in an interview between the Minister of Industries and Commerce (the Hon. D. G. Sullivan) and the Hon. H. G. Hawkins, of the South Australian Farmers’ Union. Mr Hawkins stressed the suitability of South Australian wheat on account of its dryness and high gluten content. He said it would mix wohderfully well with New Zealand flour.

“Mr Sullivan told me a good deal of wheat would be needed this year because of the light harvest,” said Mr Hawkins to-day, “and that the Government would be buying on the best market. W e are hoping to be able to make the price right so that it may be possible to revive the South Australian wheat trade to- New Zealand.”
