ANOTHER FROST.
3.3 DEGREES LAST NIGHT. COLD SOUTH WIND TO-DAY. The second frost this month was recorded at the Domain weather station last night, following extremely cold conditions after a change in the weather yesterday afternoon. The frost was of 3.3 degrees. Ashburton is seldom visited by frosts in February, the last before this year being in 1932. Light rain accompanied the southerly change, and two points fell. The inside minimum temperature last night was 33 degrees, after a maximum yesterday of 60.1 degrees. ; ■Conditions to-day were still cold, although the sun shone brightly in the morning. A keen wind blew from the south-west, and the sky became cloudy later. The barometer reading at-9 o’clock this morning was high, pressure standing at 29.97 inches, compared with 29.48 inches yesterday morning.

The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather: — General inference: An anticyclone of considerable intensity is moving on to the Dominion, the highest pressure being west of the South Island. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows:
Moderate to strong south-westerTy winds decreasing and later becoming variable. Weather mainly fine but isolated local showers possible in land. Temperatures cold but' rising to-mor-row. Seas rather rough hut moderating.
