MARITIME STRIKE.
CONCILIATORY MOVES. EARLY SETTLEMENT POSSIBLE. (United Press Association—Copyright) SAN FRANCISCO, November 9. Conciliatory moves to-day eased the tension in the maritime strike on the Pacific Coast, and brightened hopes of early peace. The joint committee recommended their followers toi return their vessels to home ports, thus promising relief to 600 passengers and, 900 strikers who are stranded at Honolulu. Hundreds are idle in Atlantic ports. Local seamen have decided to unload perishable cargo on idle ships, and are urging seamen elsewhere to do likewise.
Mr E. F. McGrady, who, according to the secretary, Miss Frances Perkins, has the full authority necessary for mediation, will resume peace negotiations to-morrow on behalf of the Maritime Commission.
