ELECTRICITY SUPPLY.
SURVEY IN BRITAIN.
(United Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, November 7.
During last year the Electricity Commissioner lias made an approximate survey. of the extent and the further possibilities of electrical development in Britain. The survey showed that at the end of 1934 the areas of supply of 625 undertakings contained 12,535,000 premises, of which about 6,650,000 were connected to the public supply systems. Of a total of about 10,636,000 domestic premises about 5,523,000 were connected to the supply systems. Developments attained by 571 of the undertakings had been accomplished by the provision of about 26,000 miles of high and low tension electric lines in rural areas of supply, and of low tension mains in about 30,490 miles of streets in urban areas. These are capable of affording supplies to a substantial number of additional premises in the areas concerned without involving any material additional expenditure other than that required for services and meters.
