CONDITIONS IMPROVE TO-DAY. After the dull and unsettled weather of the last few days conditions showed an improvement to-day. After a shower of two points of rain early this morning the sky remained overcast for a time, but the sun shone through at intervals later and the temperature became mild. There was a. light easterly wind. The maximum temperature yesterday was 56.1 degrees and the inside minimum last night 45.2 degrees. Barometric pressure at 9 o’clock this morning was 29.70 inches, compared with 29.95 inches yesterday morning. TO-DAY’S FORECAST. ;Per Press Association.l WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Alcteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather:— General inference: Pressure is still rather low, especially across the North Island, but is more uniform over the Dominion. A depression is located over the south-western Tasman Sea and is moving eastwards The forecast for the east ooast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows: Light to moderate variable winds, later northerlies prevailing. Weatlim cloudy to overcast, with mist or drizzling rain at places, but improving. Temperatures becoming milder. Seas slight to moderate.
