The “Manchester Guardian” states that exceptional precautions are being taken to conceal the details of German rearmament from the outside world. Dr. Schacht sent a confidential circular to the chambers of commerce throughout Germany, stating that the publication of any descriptive, statistical material relating to stocks, the consumption of raw materials, employment in separate industries, the localities of certain factories, and other information affecting economics, military politics, and military interests in Germany; will be regarded as treasonable. Even the communication of such data to scientific institutes is forbidden. Restrictions have also been placed on the taking of photographs.
