Many New Zealand Manufactured Goods have risen in price and others will follow with probable further increases when the manufacturer finds out his increased costs caused by high wages and shorter hours; statements made to the effect that prices would not advance through high wages and hours were simply made through ignorance of business methods, that is when manufacturing costs advance selling prices must follow sooner or later. We give a few of the many advances by manufacturers that have already taken place caused by higher wages and shorter hours: Bread 10 per cent, building costs about 20 per cent, sauce, pickles, confectionery, biscuits, tinware, printing, bacon, jellies, meats, meat pastes, jams and marmalade, etc. These are only a few of the prices advised by the manufacturers. Flour is sure to follow and probably sugar amongst the bread and butter lines.
