EGMONT-WANGANUI HUNT, INDISCRETION WINS CUP. (Per Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, September 3. The combined Taranaki, Egmont and Wanganui Hunt meeting opened to-day in showery weather. There was a. good attendance, and the track was in good order, but holding. The totahsator handled £7392 10s, compared with £4538 10s on the first day last year. Results:— Trial Hunters’ Steeplechase, of 50 sovs; about two miles—l (2) Stroller 10.5 (McGovern) 1,2 (1) Evermore 10.0 2, 7 (8) Prairie Boy 10.0 car. 10. 3. Won by two lengths; the same distance between second and third. Time, 4.17 2-5.
Wereroa Scurry, of 50 sovs; five furlongs—2 (2) Airing 8.0 (Chote) 1, 3 (3) Glenation 8.0 2, 5 (4) Gay Flier 8.0 3. Won by two lengths; a length between second and third. Time, 1.7, Whenuakura Hack Handicap, of 75 sovs; seven furlongs—l (3) High Test 8.0 (C. Clifford) 1,2 (1) Glenthawn 8.0 2, 7 (7) Lady Voyonne 3. Won by a length and a half; a neck between second and third. Time, 1.33.

MOONEE VALLEY RACES. MELBOURNE, September 3. At the Moonee Valley charity races to-day the following was the result of the Trial Hurdles—Barnu.ni 10.7 (Jennings) 1, Devonbrook 10.2 2, Velair 8.8 3. Nine horses started, including King Colossus. Won by a head; four lengths between second and third. Time, 3.54£. Palatinate, Link Divine, Tehuon, and Perfect Idea were unplaced in the Hospital Handicap. Chenars was unplaced in the Welter Plate. Sherekhan was unplaced, in the Welter Purse.
