AUSTRALIAN WOMEN’S TITLE. A NEW ZEALAND FINAL. ADELAIDE, eSpt. 1. A cloudy skyt and a slight breeze made conditions excellent for the semifinals of the women’s golf championship of Australia, which were played to-day at the Seaton links. Mrs R. D. Fullerton. - Smith (N.Z.) beat Mrs O. Negus (Western Australia) 5 and 3. Miss O. Kay (N.Z.) beat Miss E. M. Hutton (Victoria) 2 up. Miss Kay had a hard fight against the Victorian. Both played exceptional golf. Miss Kay had an approximate round of 77, and Miss Hutton of 80. After the first six holes Miss Hutton was 3 down. This deficit was too great to enable her to square the match. Miss Kay was out in 39, to stand two up. She lost the seventh to a birdie two, and the eighth to a four, won the long ninth in par five, took the 10th, and lost the 12th to another birdie two. The 13th was a bad hole. Miss Kay took three to reach the green, and then took three putts. At this stage she was only one up. The next four were halved, and Miss Kay won the last in par four for the match. Neither Mrs Fullerton - Smith nor Mrs Negus played to the best of form. Mrs Negus was at fault on the greens, missing easy putts. She was two down at the turn, but should have been square. Mrs Fullerton-Smith was out in 44, and Mrs Negus in 46. The New Zealander had a birdie three at the 10th. She had putting lapses at four holes after this, but the West Australian was unable to take advantage of them. Mrs FullertonSmith took three putts at the short 12th, missing a two-footer, but stymied her opponent to take the hole and stand foui 1 up. She won the 13th with a six, and lost the next to par four, making her dormie four. She won the 15th in par five, for the match. Form suggests Miss Kay as the likely winner of the final over 36 holes tomorrow.
