GENEROUS BEQUESTS.
FUND FOR CHILDREN’S WELFARE (Per Press Association). AUCKLAND, August 19. The fulfilment of a life-long ambition is given effect to in the will of Mr John Henry Hannan, a well-known business man, who died on August _9, leaving more than 60 house properties in the city. The mutual desire of his wife and himself was that part of his fortune should he bequeathed to the welfare of the children of Auckland. Mrs Hannan died two years ago. ~- Mr Hannan’s will lias been sworn for probate at £60,000. Specific bequests, totalling £I9OO, are made to charitable institutions, and the residue of the estate, estimated to produce £30,000, is to be equally divided, among the following:—Leslie Presbyterian Orphanage, Meadowbank; the Methodist Trust Board, Auckland (for children’s homes); Manurewa Children’s Home; Anglican Orphans’ Home, Papatoetoe; and the Community Sunshine Association.
