TRADE BY BARTER.
GERMANY APPROACHES AUPSTRALIA. (United Press Association—Copyright.) SYDNEY, August 18. The German Consul-General at Sydney, Dr. Asmis, is negotiating with the Sydney County Council, seeking favourable consideration of a bartering arrangement for £500,000 worth of Australian wool in payment forexpensive electrical equipment required at the main power house at Bunnerong. The County Council is favourably impressed with the idea on the principle that it might lead to the development of Australian primary products, and the matter will be discussed with the State Government.
