THE WEATHER.
TINE AND MILD CONDITIONS. The weather was fine and mild in Ashburton this morning, with a heavily overcast sky. The temperature was warm. A north-westerly wind arose later and blew fairly strongly. Four degrees of frost were recorded at the Domain weather station this morning. The maximum temperature yesterday was 56.7 degrees and the inside minimum last night 32.9 degrees. Barometric pressure at 9 o’clock this morning was 29.88 inches, compared with 29.81 inches yesterday morning. TO-DAY’S FORECAST. (Per Pre*» Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather:— General inference: A depression is located west of the North Island, while a rather deep depression is advancing across the south Tasman Sea. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Qamaru is as follows: Moderate but increasing northerly winds, later turning to* north-westerly in most places and reaching gale force at times in exposed positions. Weather fair at first but clouding over later and scattered rains developing. Temperatures still mild. Sea.s moderate, but rising north of Kaikoura.
